The commercial was about two little kids where the little girl was asking the little boy
about her being his girlfriend. The little boy then replied “No”, because according to
him girls are demanding. Then the girl replied that she only wants MCDO fries and
after that they both went to Mcdonalds and they buy the very affordable fries.
The commercial was actually banned by the Catholic Church because they hate the
idea of the commercial using kids as their main characters. The commercial was
immediately faced out because of the continuous allegation of the church. However
in my own argument, there’s nothing wrong about the commercial.
Yes, their worry might be that the commercial was encouraging the youth to engaged
themselves in a relationship. Well looking on the other side, the real message that the
story wants to convey is the simplicity of the kids. That their happiness are just easy
and reachable things. That it doesn’t have to be expensive to be contented and happy.
Though there are some arguments in the commercial that I doesn’t agree much on.
Like when the little boy says that girls are demanding. Yes there is a general perception
that in relationships, boys have to please their girls a lot. But it is still wrong to generalize
that girls are demanding because the way the little boy delivered the message,
it shows bad connotation on the sides of the girls.
But evaluating the commercial all in all, its good because it was able to feature how reachable Mcdonalds is for everyone. Even the kids can already afford paying it. Unfortunately there
are some generalizations that took place in the commercial which shouldn’t be.
And lastly, I still strongly stand by the idea that the commercial should not be banned.
